Soldiers were elated when they reached the Iraq-Kuwait border, as they were the last of the U.S. combat troops to leave Iraq, according to The WSJ. Our men have been there since March 2003, seen approximately 4,415 American deaths and innumerable attacks. While 50,000 troops will remain for the next year in non-combative roles, carrying weapons only for protection and assisting Iraqi troops only if asked, they will soon enough be home with their families and friends and lives they left behind.
